This church is the oldest standing building in The Pas. The second oldest is the Charlebois Chapel, the first Catholic church in Manitoba.
Most of the woodwork of Christ Church, including the pews, pulpit and prayer desk, were salvaged from the original church built in 1847.
Rev. Henry Budd, the first native American Anglican Priest in western Canada, is buried in this churchyard. Born near Norway House of Cree descent, he received his education at Red River. In 1840 he was selected by the Church of England to establish Devon, its first northern mission, at The Pas. He was ordained in 1853.
For 35 years he dedicated his life to the temporal and spiritual development of the native communities at The Pas, Cedar Lake, Moose Lake, The Pas Mountain, Cumberland House and Nepowewin. In addition, his translations of scriptural writings into Cree were used for many years throughout the north.
